Current Chinook Content Mappings and Fields Indexed [Google Drive Document]
When a collection is purchased, Collections Management triggers a workflow that eventually leads to the item being included in the OneSearch index (called the Central Discovery Index) via activation in the 360 knowledgebase and/or via MARC records. Database level records will be placed in the ERM and LibGuides and made searchable in Summon through either Database Recommender or Best Bets. Item level records will be added if available.
Collections Management or Individual subject liaisons may request that an open access collection be “turned on” in the 360 knowledgebase so that it shows up in OneSearch search results. Please contact us if you would like to know what open access collections are currently turned on for OneSearch, or if you would like to add an open access collection to OneSearch.
Local Collections currently include: the libraries catalog, CU Boulder Digital Library, CU Boulder Art Museum, and CU Scholar.

Select Chinook MARC records are loaded into OneSearch as a Local Collection via Sierra Scheduler and a manual FTP process. They are then indexed with other content in OneSearch, and may be combined into a record with more metadata. Not all MARC fields display and are searchable in OneSearch; notable exceptions include the table of contents field and the local notes field.
MARC format and location mappings are set by the libraries staff. If you notice an issue with the mapping of a MARC record in OneSearch check to see if the current mapping settings are correct, and let us know about the issue.

The 360 Knowledgebase includes article and chapter level records for many items, which adds a lot of content to OneSearch that is not there in Chinook.
OneSearch also includes many open access collections that we do not import MARC for to make them display in Chinook, which adds a considerable number of results to the total.
Many items are loaded twice into OneSearch, once as a knowledgebase item and again as a MARC record. Many items are also in multiple knowledgebase collections. Our nightly indexing process does attempt to dedupe records for similar or the same items in OneSearch using ISBNs, titles, and doi matching. However, the process tends to err on the side of caution and if there’s even a small discrepancy in some of the metadata it will keep the records separated. Please let us know if you are seeing lots of results of the same thing.
Because content metadata in OneSearch is updated daily, the answer to this question changes over time. One way to test is to do a search for an item in your collection and look at the database filter to see if your database content shows up, and if the number generally matches what is supposed to be in the collection. You can also email us and we will happily pull specific reports on how your content is performing.

If we do not have a resource and you would like to request it, the easiest way to do so is to click “Search Beyond” at the top, then click on the Citation Online link. This will take you to our link resolver with an option to request the item via ILLiad.
We also provide a link to the ILL website at the top of OneSearch.
