This guide focuses on supporting reserach on Japanese Studies at the graduate level. Users are expected to somewhat familiar with scholarly publishign formats and synthesizing reserach.

The resources below contain content largely in Japanese or another Asian language and require proficiency to be used effectively.

General Databases with Significant Japanese Studies Content

These are large interdisciplinary databases with scholarship done primarily in English. Many journal articles that come up in OneSearch come from one of these five databases. Searching in each one individually allows for a greater control over your searches. If you want to search an individual journal you will need to do that through oen of the database. Other formats are covered as well, including newspaper and magazine articles, thesis, multimedia, etc.
