The Archives holds not only the works of professional photographers, but also many materials from semi-professional to amateur photographers. Within the Archives at least 32% of the approximately 1,850 collections contain some type of photographic material. That is 595 collections with some type of photography in them. While some of these collection have just a few images, others contain thousands. Since the current, conservative estimate, gives a number of over 1,000,000 photographs, it is not currently possible to fully describe and digitize each image. This is something we always will strive to do, but it is a challenge.
The sheer number of photographs and the variety of options for describing a photograph often creates a barrier to access and a challenge in finding what you need. Don't be discouraged, there are some tips and tricks in helping your search go smoothly.
Any descriptions of the RaD Archives photographic materials are located in ArchivesSpace (ASpace) which is our online catalog. This can be accessed by going to archives.colorado.edu. To help narrow your search in ASpace, please review this guide.
