FOLIO -> Discovery bookmarklet

Code taken from Cornell

This bookmarklet will allow you to jump from instance records in FOLIO Inventory to their corresponding record pages in OneSearch or the Library Catalog.  (A bookmarklet works the same way as a regular browser bookmark, except that instead of a URL, it contains a chunk of Javascript code that performs an action.)

Installation

Add the bookmarklet to your web browser. The easiest way to do this is to drag one or both of these links --

FOLIO --> Library Catalog

FOLIO --> OneSearch

--  onto the bookmarks/favorites bar.  (The bar needs to be visible; ctrl-shift-b or command-shift-b shows or hides the bar in Firefox, Chrome, Edge, and Safari.)

If dragging the button doesn't work, you can try the following:

  1. Right-click on the button above and copy the link.
  2. Create a new bookmark from scratch in your browser. The easiest way to do this is to bookmark a web page – it doesn't matter which.
  3. Edit the bookmark you created in step 2, replacing its URL with the link contents that you copied in step 1.

You can place the bookmarklet anywhere in your bookmarks collection, but it's simplest to place it on your bookmarks/favorites bar for quick access.

Using the bookmarklet

Using the bookmarklet is straightforward. If you are viewing an instance record in FOLIO's Inventory, click the bookmarklet link on your bookmarks bar or bookmark collection. The browser should immediately load the corresponding Blacklight record page.

If you click the bookmarklet on any page other than an Inventory instance record, nothing will happen.
