Introduction to Practice Exam Materials

The following books are official sample exams for the JLPT. A detailed breakdown of the structure of the JLPT levels can be found here. All of the materials listed on this page are available at the Norlin Library Circulation Desk.

JLPT Practice Exams

These are full recreations of the JLPT exam a full exam with all sections. In order to practice for the listening section, a CD is included with each booklet for the listening section of the exam.

Need a way to play audio CDs? The Norlin Commons Help Desk has two external CD drives you can borrow. They are plug and play and should work right away with most modern laptops. These devices cannot be reserved and are available on a first come first serve basis.

JLPT Guide Books

There guidebooks give a sample questions from all 5 levels of the JLPT exam. If you are unsure what level to take, you can use this guidebooks to assess what level is an appropriate match for your Japanese Language ablility. They are also an extra opportunity to practice.

JLPT Guidebooks (Pre-2010)

These Practice Exams are based on the pre-2010 format of the test. The format before and after the revisions are basically the same and these materials are another opportunity for you to practice taking the JLPT.
