CU Boulder Japanese and Japanese American Community History Project: J/JA Organizations

The Mile High chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League's mission is to secure and maintain the civil rights of Japanese Americans and all others who are victimized by injustice and bigotry. JACL promotes and preserves the and cultural, educational, and social values, and the heritage, of the Japanese American community.

JARCC preserves, celebrates, and shares the Japanese and Japanese American experience in Colorado.meet the needs of a constantly changing and diverse community by preserving and protecting the contributions of our Colorado Issei and Nisei descendants for present and future generations through cultural programs and events, educational outreach, heritage preservation and collaborative partnerships with local organizations.

We proudly connect artists to collaborators and build beneficial partnerships and relationships with stakeholders and communities to recognize the interdependence of all players in the field. We also develop programs and initiatives to encourage a sustainable and symbiotic relationship between artists, communities, and stakeholders. We raise-up the artist’s experience as a person of Japanese descent in America, and provide opportunity and resources for them; recognizing the struggles they might face as part of a marginalized community.

The Sakura Foundation celebrates and shares Japanese and Japanese American culture and heritage to promote a more compassionate, resilient, & equitable society. The foundation lives it's mission through its programming: Mirai Generations Leadership Program for young adults, Chibi no Gakkō for K-8 grade students, with mentorship opportunities for High Schoolers,Annual Cherry Blossom Festival, Community Grants, Scholarships for graduating high school seniors, Cultural events throughout the year.

Simpson United Methodist Church is a multicultural congregation rooted deeply in the Japanese American culture and experience. We strive to reach out to all people in the belief that diversity is a strength. As such, today, our membership is a rainbow of ages, genders, cultures, and experiences.

Founded in 1916. Rooted in the culture of Japanese-Americans, and their Japanese ancestors. The temple keeps alive the memories of those who have come before, while welcoming in all people who wish to be a part of our community and continue to expand its history. The temples are part of the Jodo Shinshu Hongwanji-Ha school of Jodo Shinshu Buddhism.
