Kimiko Side Papers
Kimiko “Kim” Side (1922–2023) and her husband settled in Denver and established businesses connecting Japanese and American communities. Beyond her entrepreneurial work, she played a central role in cultural exchange, leading the Denver-Takayama Sister City program, supporting Japanese American civic organizations, and teaching traditional crafts. Her contributions earned numerous awards, including the Japanese government’s Order of the Rising Sun, marking her as a key figure in fostering Japanese American identity and international understanding.
