JSTOR
JSTOR is an online archive of scholarly materials and it searches articles through the full text, unlike many other databases. However JSTOR includes fewer journals on any specific subject than the subject databases does, and is lacking the most recent 5 years of articles.

Essential art history index for finding scholarly articles dating as far back as 1923. Covers all periods and art media. Includes the following collections: Art Full Text (H.W. Wilson), Art Index Retrospective (H.W. Wilson)
Bibliography of the History of Art (BHA) and Rpertoire international de la littrature de l'art (RILA)
Comprehensive index of art history, from late antiquity to contemporary. Indexing coverage ended in 2007.
International Bibliography of Art (IBA) (ProQuest)
Began indexing in 2007 after the cessation of Bibliography of the History of Art, and has the same editorial policies.

KubiKat
Catalog of several major German art research centers. It has books in all languages, as well as including journal articles. Especially strong in the art of Germany and Italy.

ARTbibliographies Modern (ProQuest)
Excellent source for art and photography made after 1850, especially for finding articles on contemporary art and artists.

AATA Online: Abstracts of International Conservation Literature
Database of literature related to the preservation and conservation of material cultural heritage.

The Internet Archive and Open Library offers over 10,000,000 fully accessible books and texts.

Europeana Virtual Library
Multi-lingual online collection of millions of digitized items from European museums, libraries, and archives. Searches for digitized books of many of the major libraries of Europe.
