Teach with Callings

Whether you read the book in its entirety or just a handful of chapters, we've created a community canvas course and this guide to make integrating Callings into your course as easy as possible, The canvas course provides chapter summaries, discussion questions, related activities and resources. All members of the campus community are welcome and encouraged to  join the course and to reuse content as is meaningful.

It doesn’t even seem like much time goes by. You forget to eat, you forget to get up, you forget to drink water. Everything just goes into suspension. And then fifteen hours later… It just seems like it’s all been a big long dream.
Sharon Long, Forensic Anthropologist

There’s manatees and dolphins that come by. There’s a night heron that sits just below my window all night long every night, except when the algae bloom. And the sunsets and sunrises are like snowflakes—there’s no two that are exactly alike.

Barbara Abelhauser, Bridge tender

That’s when it dawned on me: ‘You have to do what you love.’ So that’s when I said, ‘I’m going to follow my heart and become a teacher!’

Ayodeji Ogunniyi, Teacher

It feels like part of me, that I'm supposed to do it, that it's what I am on the planet for. So thank you for being an example of what it is to take care of people.

Laura Michaelis, Doctor

Thanks, Sue, but I don't feel like a hero. I just was young woman who tried to do the right thing. And given the same circumstances, I would do it it again. I feel like that decision changed my life in many ways, and thank goodness I made it, because it would be so hard for to look in the mirror today if I hadn't.

Clela Rorex, Boulder County Clerk
