The University Libraries do not subscribe to eBooks that can be downloaded to the Kindle. However, book chapters or articles in PDF format can be downloaded to the Kindle using the Kindle Personal Documents Service.

The Front Range Downloadable Library from the Boulder Public Library system also has popular fiction and non-fiction eBooks that can be downloaded to the Kindle and other devices.

Set-up:

Download Adobe Digital Editions.

Steps:

  1. Look for a download (offline) or "Add to Bookshelf" option

  2. If you are not logged into your personal account you will be prompted to do so. You will need to create an account in each eBook database to download eBooks and access other custom features.

  3. Select a checkout period

  4. Download eBook to Adobe Digital Editions

  5. Select Open with Adobe Digital Editions

  6. Adobe Digital Editions should automatically open. If it does not open, make sure the program is installed and either download the file again or save the file on your computer and open it after starting Adobe Digital Editions.

  7. Adobe Digital Editions will automatically detect the presence of your device when it is connected to your computer.

  8. Transfer items to and from the device bookshelf by clicking on the book title, then dragging and dropping the title into the device bookshelf.

  9. eBooks will automatically expire after the designated checkout period. eBooks cannot be renewed, but you may download the eBook again if it is available.
