Historical Maps: Print

There are a variety of historical maps of Colorado in the Map Library's collection; however many of them are uncataloged. Please contact us if you'd like to see what we have in these areas:

• Topographic maps dating back to the 1880s
• Sanborn Fire Insurance maps
• Maps of the state/territory of Colorado, including city and county maps
• Mining maps
• Plat maps
• Tourist and road maps

The Map Library's collection includes:

• Topographic maps of the United States dating back to the 1880s
• A limited collection of state, city, and county maps of areas other than Colorado
• Historical atlases for many U.S. states and cities, including atlases with reproductions of historical maps
• Historic Urban Plans: reproductions of city maps and views (search with the phrase "historic urban plans" and [area of interest] then limit results to the map content type)

The Map Library's collection includes:

• Maps from the Army Map Service: WWII-era maps with topographic features (mostly Europe, some north Africa, Japan, Pacific Islands)
• Historic Urban Plans (search with the phrase "historic urban plans" and [area of interest] then limit results to the map content type)
• Baedeker's: Late 19th century and early 20th century travel guides, predominantly for Europe
• Historical atlases for many countries and cities, including atlases with reproductions of historical maps
• Detailed historical maps of England, Ireland, and Scotland
