Good to Know about Annual Reports

decorative photo of Noodles & Co sign.All public companies are required to write an Annual Report to the SEC (10-K) which must be filed with the SEC 90 days after the end of the fiscal year. The 10-K is the source for annual balance sheet, income statement, and statement of cash flows.

 

In these annual reports you can find information about:

  • products and services
  • markets
  • availability of raw materials
  • legal proceedings
  • financial position
  • company's goals and objectives

Public companies often publish an Annual Report to Shareholders. These reports highlight the company's strengths and future plans, are often supplemented with images, and include limited financial data. The SEC describes the differences here.
