"This / is the world I want to live in. The shared world."
The world stitched together by the threads binding us
the long river in red twilight—
Flows through our very being, this is how the water thinks in mountains.
Rocky Mountain highs rainin' fire in the sky
In hopes of open hearts to those walking benigh
You don't have to be good.
Connections like streams running through, between us all
See beautiful things with ever more beautiful people
I sit. I stare. I try to understand.
The wind flies + twirls + swirls through the trees, laughing. Reminding me to let go. Or to follow?
I close my eyes. I rest. I'm free.
Peace.
This year’s celebration takes as inspiration the poem "Gate A-4" by Naomi Shihab Nye and its lines:
“This / is the world I want to live in. The shared world.”
Throughout the month of April, visit any Libraries location to receive a pocket poem to carry with you throughout your day. Community members were also invited to visit the West Entrance of Norlin Library on April 8th to create poetry in community from 11am-1pm. The final collaborative poem is transcribed above.
