Request a New York Times Account

Activate Your Access to The New York Times

The University Libraries provides direct access to the New York Times for University of Colorado at Boulder students, faculty and staff.

Please follow these steps to access:

  1. Go to the Activate Your Complimentary Access page.
  2. Search for: University of Colorado – Boulder, CO.
  3. Click on the blue Go button.
  4. Create an account using your @colorado.edu email.
  5. Get access! If you forget your password follow the reset password instructions.

Renew an Expired Account

If you already have an account, but it expired, please follow these instructions to renew your access.

  1. Log out of NYT on all applicable devices (including log out of any personal, non-CU NYT accounts).
  2. Go to http://accessnyt.com and look up "University of Colorado."
  3. Indicate whether on or off campus.
  4. On the NYT registration page, click on "Already have an account? Log in here."
  5. Input your existing NYT login credentials.

You should see a confirmation page once you have successfully re-registered. Note that faulty/staff will need to follow this registration process annually, students will have uninterrupted access until their anticipated graduation date.

Activate Your Access to The New York Times Cooking App

Please follow these steps to access:

  1. Make sure you have followed the steps above under 'Request a New York Times Account' to create an account to the New York Times.
  2. Go to the New York Times Cooking Activate Your Access page.
  3. Login with your identikey
  4. Click on the gold 'Activate your accesss' button.
  5. Click the black 'REDEEM' button. This will prompt you to login using your New York Times account. You must use your New York Times account that you registered in step one to gain access.
  6. Get access! If you have any issues please contact us at libera@colorado.edu.

About Your New York Times Account

After you register, NYTimes.com content will be accessible from any device, or you can download the NYTimes app for the following devices:

  • iPhone, Blackberry 10, Windows Phone 7+ and Android-powered phones
  • iPad, Kindle Fire, Windows 8 desktop and tablet, Android-powered tablets, The Collection app for iPad and the NYTimes App for the Chrome Web Store

Each activated account provides access to:

  • NYTimes Online
    • Student accounts will remain active until graduation date.

    • Faculty and staff must renew account every 364 days.
