A scholarly article is an article written by and for scholars and professors, often describing a study the authors/researchers performed.
Scholarly articles are published in academic journals. Most scholarly articles go through a peer review process where other scholars in the field read the article, provide feedback, and recommend if the article should be published.
Scholarly articles are also referred to as "journal articles," "peer-reviewed articles," and "research articles."
