Data Sources

Sources of data and statistics are increasingly available from researchers, government organizations, publishers, and other groups. Below are a sample of data resources. If you would like help finding data, contact your librarian.

Merck Index Online Contains information from over 10,000 monographs describing significant chemicals, drugs, and biological substances.
Knovel Library Type your substance into the search bar. If you are looking for a specific property you can try the "Data Search." Type in the substance name and search. Find the property you need on the right and drag it to the center box. Then click the yellow "X results" button at the bottom to be taken to results that list that property for that substance.
CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics A comprehensive reference resource for the fields of chemistry and physics. Access note: Must use VPN to access this database from off campus.

NIST Data Gateway Access to National Institute of Standards and Technology scientific and technical data

AccessEngineering Explore "Data Vis Materials Properties" within this database. Choose properties and materials to create custom visualizations.

re3data The Registry of Research Data Repositories can help you find a place for your data, and find data sets
Open Data Stack Exchange Question and answer site for developers and researchers interested in open data
Figshare Open repository for data outputs that is fully searchable and citable
GitHub Repository for programmers using Git, an open source version control system

The Center for Research Data and Digital Scholarship (CRDDS)
CRDDS is a collaboration between Research Computing and University Libraries, offering a full range of data services and support to the university and community. We are a collaborative team of data and information professionals, scholars, and educators with expertise in data-intensive scholarship and teaching. Our goal is to serve as a interdisciplinary hub and resource on campus that empowers everyone as they navigate the Research Lifecycle, through workshops and seminars, certificate programs, and collaborative opportunities.

Laboratory for Interdisciplinary Statistical Analysis

LISA statistical collaborators can help design experiments, studies, and surveys; collect, analyze, and plot data; run statistical software; interpret results; and develop strategies to communicate statistical concepts and results to non-statisticians.
