CU's Rare Books Collection holds multiple hand-drawn and printed maps of Kyoto created in the mid-1700s. The first three (done by hand) show Kyoto during different eras in its history. The final map, which is a woodblock print, shows Kyoto as it looked at the time (the 1740s).
Note that the images of the hand-drawn maps come from cell phone photographs, so the quality is not perfect, particularly when zooming in. They are also combinations of two images, which is why the middle of the map may look slightly off. We hope to be able to get better scans of these maps available on our digital library soon!
