HUMN 3800: Paris, Modernity, and the Avant-garde (Bernardini): Navigate the Library

Welcome to your HUMN 3800 resource guide! This guide will help you navigate various types of library sources and prepare you to lead a discussion of your topics as well as develop an annotated bibliography. The guide is organized by tabs, above. Each tab has links that will help you Navigate the Library, Develop your Topic (with reference sources), Find Books and Articles, and Cite your work.

We recognize that this semester looks different. Below please find links to important information about contactless pickup, study seat reservations, and off-campus access to electronic resources.

Please reach out to me with your questions using my profile links at right, or use the Ask a Librarian box at right for an immediate response.

Contactless Pickup

CU Boulder affiliates (students, staff, faculty) may make an appointment for contactless pickup of materials.

  • Using the library catalog, affiliates may request up to 10 items at a time.
  • Once materials are paged (approximately two business days), you will receive a hold notice via email with a link to reserve a time to pick up your items.
  • Registration for contactless pickup closes twelve hours in advance of the pickup window.
  • You only need to schedule a single pickup appointment for all the materials requested in one session.
  • Items not retrieved during a reserved timeslot will be held for the remainder of the 14-day hold period, and you may reschedule a pickup time online.

Materials are packaged in paper bags for each individual and made available on the east entrance lobby of Norlin Library (near the Sundial Plaza). Please follow Boulder and campus health guidelines when picking up materials.

For more information, see this page.

Study Seat Reservations

During academic terms, current CU Boulder students, staff and faculty may reserve individual study seats; except for print job pickups, individual study seat reservations are required in library spaces.

Reservations can be made in 45 minute increments, up to 135 minutes per request. You'll need to use your valid BuffOne card to access the Libraries' spaces.

For reservations and more information please see this page.

Off Campus Access

Easy Access (EZ Proxy)

When you are off campus and you click on a link to a resource on the libraries website, you will see an authentication screen that looks like this:

CU-Boulder students, staff and faculty: Log in with your Identikey username and password and you will be linked directly to the resource.

Virtual Private Network

CU-Boulder's VPN service provides a secure connection to the campus network from any location, as long as the device has an internet connection. The VPN can be used to access campus resources (e.g. most library resources, file servers) or to securely browse the Internet. CU-Boulder Faculty, Staff and Student affiliations automatically receive a VPN entitlement.
