The fastest coverage of new innovations is the news. They often are the least in-depth, but in some cases with things that happened very recently they may offer the only coverage.
Trade journals are written by people in a particular trade (ex: advertising, financial planning, etc.) about their industry. My favorite example is Vending Times, which is all about the vending machine industry.
Scholarly journals are written by scholars in the field, but they take the longest to be written. Therefore, if you innovation is new you may not find any coverage in that area.
If the company developing your innovation is a public company, then analyst's reports might be another source of information on the challenges and concerns the stockholders have about these innovations. This is a short list, for a comprehensive list check out the Articles and Analysis list.
