Interdisciplinary Telecom Program: Writing and Citation

Find resources for your Interdisciplinary Telecom research, capstone, or thesis here.

Common Citation Styles in Engineering

The most common citation styles in technology are from the two major associations in the discipline. The ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) provides style guidance for both MS Word and LaTeX. The IEEE provides citation style guidelines as well.

Since ITP is interdisciplinary, you may also use some other citation styles. Learn more about your other options on our citation styles guide.

Managing Your Citations

What is a citation management tool?

Citation management tools help you keep track of your literature research and make it easier to write well-cited papers, from your earliest explorations to automatically generating citations for you as you write! At the libraries, we can meet with you and discuss what options might work best for you, how to get started, and help troubleshoot any difficulties you encounter, but you can also get started on your investigating some of the options below, which are free and which we find especially useful in the sciences (or explore even more options on our guide to citation managers).
